Hygiene
Everybody has bacteria and food debris which accumulates in their mouth and around the tooth gum junction. This causes inflammation and infection in the gums which can eventually lead to destruction of bone support.
Your hygiene visits allow the hygienist to have a check and clean any plaque and tartar to remove the risk of gum disease. Your hygienist also works with you to provide a tailored cleaning programme to use at home with the relevant product recommendations too.
Step 1
Your hygienist will undertake an assessment to check how your oral hygiene regime is working for you.
Step 2
You will receive a clean that will remove any build up of plaque or tartar in and around your gums followed by a quick polish to minimise staining.
Step 3
You will leave with the guidance on the best products and regiment to maintain your oral health at home in between appointments.
A) Your appointment will last up to half an hour.
A) Surface stains are removed as part of the clean, however not all stains cannot be removed and you will need to consider teeth whitening.
A) No – you can now have direct access to a hygienist but we do advocate that patients see a dentist as well.
